Barbara Tobler is a versatile, dynamic singer and performer known for her ability to sing in different styles and languages. Her range includes classical, pop, broadway, jazz, blues, and rock. Barbara found her roots in opera after winning the Austrian American Society Vocal Competition, which led to her move to Salzburg, Austra, to live and study at the prestigious Mozarteum. That is where her successful career performing in opera houses around the world began.

Barbara returned to the United States to complete her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance while continuing her performance career. She became a college professor and began her private studio, where she explored and expanded her interests into other music genres and styles.

Currently, Barbara can be seen and heard performing with the trio, Lyriphon, and the band, Crimson Coil.

With over 25 years of experience teaching the technique of singing, Barbara maintains two San Diego-based studios in downtown and Carlsbad. Barbara is a widely sought-after vocal coach earning her top recognition on sites like Expertise.com as one of San Diego’s Best Voice Teachers. She takes great joy in working with pre-teens, teens, and adults alike in private voice lessons, helping her students to find the true beauty and power of their natural singing or speaking voice.

Barbara’s honest and personalized attention to her students has garnered excellent results for her students winning singing competitions and scholarships to prestigious music schools such as Juilliard, New England Conservatory, and Northwestern University.

Barbara has taken students with no prior singing experience and has launched them on their own successful vocal journeys.

Barbara is a true technician who develops a special connection with her students. She provides expert, personalized vocal instruction by diagnosing her student’s weaknesses and developing corrective exercises specifically for them.
